Song of the Rock Rollers Gem Show

The inaugural gem show for Rock Rat in Washington commenced this past Friday. Took lots of photos, attempted to interview and handful of (understandably) shy gem showers, and filled my hip pouch to the brim with business cards for future interviews. Oh- and I picked up a rock guide, some diamond-tipped Dremel bits, a chain, a pair of amethyst sceptres for a pair of kiddos, and found my lady somethin' almost one thenth as lovely as she. But, instead of recounting all of that, I decided to share my stream of photos and ask that you go find your own gem show to drool over. The snow is melting and the rock season is opening up so get out there and harvest some adventure!

Of course, I cannot in good conscience leave you without a creative gesture. So, for you humming pleasure, here is a Rockosophy parody of Queen's Fat Bottomed Girls. If you would so generously oblige me, follow along with this karaoke while reading the following parody:

Enjoy.

"How about we go on and head downtown?

Oh, right around those old fair grounds? Can we stuff our pockets right full? My rockhound friends You take the Rock Rollers by the pound

Oi, I was once a lonely soul

Rockin' the backwoods all solo Until I found a crew just as obsessed as me, yea Ventured along with Northwest Rockhounds With such knowledge out of my bounds Great treasure hunters, they made a Rock Rat of me

Whoa! Whoa! Let's go diggin' in the sand Into the gravel, into the stand Let's lick each and every stone we see, oi! With their translucency and color Tumbled, raw, or just plain nubbled Carry us away far from this urban bubble

Giddy'up!

How about we go on and head downtown?

Oh, right around those old fair grounds? Can we stuff our pockets right full? My rockhound friends You take the Rock Rollers by the pound

Hey, listen here!

Next time we'll get that geode From the matrix, move that rock load There's another site just there over the ridge, see? Ah, and always more adventures Never cease to get my treasures Northwest Rockhounds, you done made a Rock Rat of me Now, get this!

"How about we go on and head downtown?

Oh, right around those old fair grounds?

Can we stuff our pockets right full?
