Hummingbirds Never Hop

Hummingbirds only use their legs and feet to perch. It's an ornithological fact. You will never see a hummingbird walk between spots, only taking off and landing expertly. It looks like this:

Unlike quail, who prefer to run away from predators and thus are the "french fries of the bird kingdom" as one Wildlife Biologist put it, hummingbirds have pretty useless legs.
